Hi everyone,

as you can tell from the date of my previous post, I haven’t been very active on this Blog 🙂

However I plan to post a bit more regularly from now on.

I completed a Higher Diploma in Software Development at the University of Limerick in December 2012 and then did some work experience in a Web Applications company.

I now have a full-time software developer position with MDS www.mdscem.com,  at their Limerick office.

Since my last post I’ve done some development in quite a variety of programming languages/applications including Java EE, .NET, Android, Javascript/CSS, PHP using the Yii framework and even some iSeries RPG and CL programming.

I’ve also continued mentoring with the Limerick CoderDojo www.coderdojomidwest.com , helping out with Scratch, Small Basic, Greenfoot, Java and Arduino projects.

In the next few weeks I plan to post some hints & tips for people beginning programming plus links to some of the most useful tutorials, websites and software tools I’ve come across in my journey into the world of Software Development.

Welcome to Ed King’s WordPress Page.

I’m an ICT specialist with a background in computer hardware, fault-finding, system troubleshooting and system test.

I’m currently studying Software Development at the University of Limerick, Ireland.

I’ve had an interest in programming since I first started learning about computers, many years ago:)

I hope to develop expertise in Java, .NET, C and C++ programmming over the next year.

I’ll be posting updates on projects I’m working on during my time at UL in addition to some other interesting items I’ll be doing in my spare time.
